PROJECTS :: RESIDENTIAL

Cooper Square Development
New York, New York

This project is one of a three site development proposal for Cooper Square. Along with Robert A. M. Stern Architects and Rockwell Architects, the developer’s intent for the proposal was to approach the three site development with three distinct architects to avoid a “master planned” design. The result is a new neighborhood that is animated and enhanced through a collage of scale, styles, and building types.

  The program includes a 14-screen cinema, a 40,000 SF gourmet grocery store, and 320 apartment rental units. The building seeks to re-establish the East Houston street wall that is fragmented along its length as a result of the widening of the street. Each program element plays a distinct role revealing itself on the façade of the building.
