For
their new headquarters, Liberty Marble, a major
New York marble and granite installer asked Alayo
Architects PC to design a contemporary space,
utilizing new materials, and to experiment with
new lighting techniques for the office environment.
The materials used are pickled white oak veneer,
non directional stainless steel, stainless steel
wire mesh, white arabescato marble, and black
impala granite. The space is mostly an open office
plan with private offices on the perimeter.
The space flows freely through the floor where
walls are deliberately left unresolved,

and visual connections are made both in a direct
and obvious way, but also in an accidental manner.
The lighting design also by this office makes
use of light and recessed coves to allow ceilings
to float freely from the structure and accentuates
the connections between columns and floors to
express a dynamic condition. The design takes
advantage of a modern vocabulary and has introduced
the use of expensive materials and sophisticated
detailing to elevate the modern language into
one that also signifies sophistications as well
as efficiency.
